Professional History

Prior to commencing at the private Bar, Elise worked for 10 years at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (Qld) (‘ODPP’). Working in the Brisbane, Rockhampton, and Beenleigh Chambers, Elise gained experience in advising, preparing, and advocating complex criminal matters including matters referred to the Mental Health Court.

Elise acted as a Crown Prosecutor for approximately 3 years. From April 2020 until September 2022, she worked as a Crown Prosecutor in Rockhampton and Brisbane. At that time, she completed a secondment to the Office of the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor where she acted as a Principal Prosecutor and gained experience in the conduct of regulatory prosecutions. Upon the conclusion of the secondment, she returned to the ODPP and acted as a Crown Prosecutor in Beenleigh until September 2023.

Elise has prosecuted more than 30 jury trials in the Supreme and District Courts, including led in the Supreme Court at Rockhampton in relation to an accused charged with murder. She has appeared in numerous bail applications, including unled in applications for accused charged with murder, and has prosecuted more than 130 sentences in the Supreme, District, Childrens and Magistrates Courts. She also has conducted busy circuits to regional courts on behalf of the Crown.

Elise also has a strong interest in Mental Health Court matters and has developed an interest in regulatory law following her secondment to the Office of the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor.  She has an interest in Family law.
